Race to the Stones is part of the Threshold Trail Series and follows the ancient Ridgeway National Trail from Lewknor to the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Avebury. The event offers a choice of a 100K non stop challenge, a 100K over two days or individual 50K stages, welcoming both first time ultra runners and experienced endurance athletes.
The fully marked routes pass through sweeping chalk downs, ancient woodland, prehistoric earthworks, hill forts and the famous Uffington White Horse before finishing among the Avebury Standing Stones. With relatively modest elevation for the distance, the course is renowned as one of the UK's fastest and most runnable ultra trail events while still delivering spectacular scenery and a rich sense of history.
Participants benefit from professional chip timing, comprehensive aid stations, medical support, route marking and extensive event facilities throughout the weekend. Combining exceptional organisation, historic landscapes and flexible challenge options, Race to the Stones has become one of Britain's best known ultra trail events.
