The Queen of the Suburbs Ultra evolved from a COVID lockdown challenge and is now London's only single-borough ultra. This year's race is on Sunday, 24th May, and We Run Ealing is the charity behind this remarkable West London event.

Back in 2020 and 2021, when things were so different and in-person events were off the table, We Run Ealing set up the Queen of the Suburbs Challenge: to visit every one of Ealing’s parks and green spaces virtually. Some runners went further, literally, linking parks together in epic adventures that covered ultra-distances.
 
From that spark, the idea of an ultramarathon contained entirely within the Borough of Ealing was born. We Run Ealing is the charitable arm of the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon, and so the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra became a reality. The first race was held on Saturday, 23 March 2024, and the event returned on Saturday, 22 March 2025, with 220 finishers.

Entry for the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra 25K or 50K entitles you to full support for your ultra journey with hints, tips, and blogs on what to wear or bring, or how to tackle the distance. You can also join in four pre-event FREE training runs to check out parts of the course, meet other participants, and get to know the We Run Ealing team.

The first training run was on 19th January; the remaining three are on 16th February, 2nd March and 16th March. These training runs are open to all runners, not just Queen of the Suburbs Ultra entrants.

The route includes many of the highlights of London's greenest Borough, such as Horsenden Hill, the canal towpaths, and the many parks and green spaces in Ealing. ​GPX and KML files of the finalised routes will be available to all entrants, along with a Google map.
