The Purbeck Marathon and Purbeck 16 are challenging trail races based in Swanage, taking runners through the spectacular landscapes of the Isle of Purbeck and Jurassic Coast. The event features a 26.67 mile marathon and a shorter 16.9 mile option, giving runners two ways to experience this distinctive part of Dorset.
The marathon covers approximately 1,059 metres of elevation across rugged trails, steep climbs and rolling countryside, with the Purbeck 16 sharing sections of the same scenic terrain over its shorter course. Routes showcase the Jurassic Coast, Purbeck ridges and surrounding countryside, with views towards some of the area's best known natural and historic landmarks.
The volunteer run event has a strong community focus, with profits supporting local charities and organisations across Purbeck. Both distances provide a substantial trail challenge, with varied terrain, significant climbing and extensive coastal and countryside views forming the heart of the experience.
