The Power of 5K is a regular race series organised by Lancaster and Morecambe AC at Salt Ayre Sports Centre in Lancaster, giving runners repeated opportunities throughout the year to test themselves over a fast 5K course.
The officially measured course is held entirely on the tarmac cycle racing track at Salt Ayre. Its flat layout, absence of road crossings and lack of tight corners create excellent conditions for maintaining an even pace and chasing a personal best.
Two races are normally held during the evening, separating faster runners from the remainder of the field and helping competitors race alongside others targeting similar times. The format makes the Power of 5K suitable for experienced club runners chasing quick performances as well as runners looking to improve their 5K times.
Organised by Lancaster and Morecambe AC, the Power of 5K takes place regularly throughout the year rather than operating as a single annual race. This provides runners with the opportunity to return to the same course and compare their performances across successive fixtures.
