The South Wales Butterfly Run is a timed endurance event organised by Phoenix Running South Wales and based at the Rock UK Summit Centre in Merthyr Tydfil. Using a flexible multi lap format, participants choose how many laps to complete, making the event suitable for everyone from first time 5K runners and walkers to experienced ultra marathon athletes.
The course follows an approximately 5.3K out and back route through Parc Taf Bargoed, a Green Flag park renowned for its woodland, lakes, riverside trails and industrial heritage. The predominantly tarmac route includes a short riverside trail section and gentle elevation, allowing participants to complete as many or as few laps as they wish within the seven hour event limit, with distances from 5K through to Ultra Marathon possible.
Participants can choose either a bespoke finisher's medal or a no medal entry option while benefiting from a fully supported event with aid stations, same day results, digital bibs and finishers' certificates. Combining flexible distance options, scenic parkland running and Phoenix Running South Wales' welcoming atmosphere, the South Wales Butterfly Run offers an enjoyable endurance challenge for runners and walkers of all abilities.
