More than 35 editions of racing have given the Ashford 10K a special place in Kent's running calendar. Now the long established club race is preparing for another November outing under the Pacific Ashford 10K name, with runners gathering on Sunday 29 November for a traditional road race through the countryside around Westwell.

Organised by Ashford & District Road Running Club, with race management support from Nice Work, the event has retained the character that makes established club races so appealing. The 10K follows undulating country lanes on tarmac, providing a proper test of pacing and endurance rather than an entirely flat dash for the finish. Race headquarters will be at The Towers School in Kennington, with runners making the short walk to the start on Sandyhurst Lane.

The race has a competitive edge too, with cash prizes of £75, £50 and £25 for the leading finishers and bottles of wine for age category winners. The course is officially measured, giving runners the opportunity to record a recognised 10K performance, while the rural setting offers something different from the larger city centre races.

There is also a charitable purpose behind the event, which supports Pilgrims Hospices and its work caring for people facing incurable illness across East Kent. The race is sponsored by Pacific Fire & Security, while refreshments and cake add to the traditional club race atmosphere.

Entries are open for the 2026 event, which starts at 10:00am. After more than three decades of racing, the Pacific Ashford 10K remains a reminder that a good local road race doesn't need elaborate entertainment or enormous crowds to earn its place on the calendar.
