The Otter Rail and River Run is a scenic 10K trail race starting and finishing at Tipton St John Playing Field in East Devon. Organised by Tipton St John Playing Field Association in conjunction with Sidmouth Running Club, the event also includes the Carol Weaver Fun Run, creating a welcoming day of off road running for all ages.
The undulating trail route follows public footpaths and rights of way through the beautiful Otter Valley, running alongside the River Otter, through Harpford Woods, along the former Sidmouth railway line and across fields and countryside tracks before returning to Tipton St John. The varied terrain, picturesque scenery and occasional muddy sections have made the event a favourite among local trail runners.
With a fully marshalled course, optional commemorative medal or coaster, finisher's bottle of Otter Ale or alcohol free alternative for eligible runners, and a friendly village atmosphere, the Otter Rail and River Run delivers an enjoyable summer trail running experience in the heart of East Devon.
