The Oban Games Hill Race is a traditional 2.5 mile hill race with approximately 500 feet of ascent, held as part of the historic Argyllshire Gathering. Competitors leave Mossfield Stadium before tackling the climb and returning to the arena for a demanding final circuit in front of the spectators.
Founded in 1871, the Argyllshire Gathering is one of Scotland's most prestigious Highland Games, bringing together athletics, heavy events, piping and Highland dancing. The Hill Race is contested for the Kilninver Cup, while the wider athletics programme includes track races from 100m to 3200m, jumps and children's events throughout the day.
