North Tyneside 10K set for another sell-out
Easter Sunday will see the 2019 staging of one of the UKs most scenic races, the North Tyneside 10K. The upcoming event will again be a sell-out with 2200 runners set to compete.
Next month’s field will start at the Parks Sports Centre in North Shields before taking in the Fish Quay, Tynemouth Priory & Castle and a long stretch of coastline before finishing at St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay.
The 10K is organised by North Tyneside Council and is supported by Bernicia Homes, Start Fitness and Clearly Drinks. Last year saw Morpeth Harriers’ Ross Floyd take first in 33:12, just under 20 seconds ahead of Tyne Bridge Harriers duo Carl Smith (33:31) and Sparrow Morley (34:54).
In the women’s competition, Charlotte Penfold (37:06) was a comprehensive winner with Magda Turnbull (39:35) and Jacqueline Penn (40:17) her closest competitors. Bob Balmer was mid-point runner in 57:35, while the last runner came home in 1:40:12.
Keep an eye out for runABC North’s race report next month.
