Motherwell’s Big Summer Run Returns
Growing Scottish half marathon returns to Ravenscraig with a full festival atmosphere...
One of Scotland’s newest and fastest growing races is set to return this summer, as the North Lanarkshire Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 23 August 2026.
Based at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, the event has quickly established itself on the Scottish running calendar, building on a successful debut that attracted hundreds of runners and strong local support.
The half marathon route takes runners through Motherwell and the surrounding areas, offering a varied and engaging course while keeping both the start and finish at Ravenscraig. Fully chip timed and open to runners aged 16 and over, it provides a solid test for those chasing a summer PB or simply looking to take on the 13.1 mile challenge.
But this is more than just a race.
Alongside the main event, a full programme of supporting races makes it a true day out for all ages. A 5K, 1K, 400m and toddler dash ensure that everyone can get involved, turning the event into a genuine community celebration of running.
The atmosphere at Ravenscraig is a key part of the experience, with a festival style event village featuring live music, food vendors, entertainment and “come and try” sports sessions. Families and supporters are just as much a part of the day as the runners themselves, creating a lively and inclusive environment.
For those taking part, the race package includes a finisher’s medal, event T-shirt and on-course support, adding to the sense of occasion when crossing the line back at Ravenscraig.
With entries now open and the event continuing to grow year on year, the North Lanarkshire Half Marathon is quickly becoming a standout fixture in the west of Scotland.
