North District XC League Race 2 forms the second round of the North District Cross Country League, bringing together athletics clubs from across northern Scotland. The established winter competition comprises five fixtures at different venues, with junior and senior athletes competing for individual honours and valuable points towards their clubs' league standings.
Each meeting features a programme of cross country races for different age groups, with shorter distances for younger athletes and longer courses for senior competitors. Routes are laid out across natural terrain, with grass, woodland paths and potentially muddy sections providing the varied conditions associated with winter cross country running. The precise course layout and elevation depend on the host venue.
The league provides opportunities for developing junior runners alongside experienced senior and masters athletes. Individual finishing positions contribute towards the wider competition, with team performances recognised across the season. The rotating venues ensure that each round presents a different challenge for participating clubs.
