The Newstead Abbey Dash is a popular annual 5K road race organised by Redhill Road Runners, held within the historic grounds of Newstead Abbey, the former home of Lord Byron.Â
The undulating course begins with a fast 1K descent towards the abbey and lake before climbing through shaded woodland and continuing to the turning point near Newstead Village. Runners then return past the lake to finish on the lawn directly in front of the abbey, creating one of the most picturesque finishes in the region.
The race welcomes runners of all abilities and incorporates the Nottinghamshire AAA 5K County Championships. With chip timing, category prizes and a friendly atmosphere, it remains a popular fixture in the Nottinghamshire racing calendar for both competitive and recreational runners.
