New Date For Scenic 10K
Those taking part in this year's Cove & Kilcreggan 10K now have an extra few months to prepare for the big day...
Due to 'unforseen circumstances' the Cove & Kilcreggan 10K, which should have taken place at the weekend, will now host runners on 1 September. Organisers explain: "An issue with a road closure forced this decision, but we hope the extra training time will benefit many of our entrants. And if you've not yet signed up, now's the time!"
After enjoying a successful inaugural outing in 2023 the Cove & Kilcreggan 10K will once again take runners on a scenic tour of the beautiful Rosneath Peninsula. The race offers a mixed terrain route, starting on the flat along road and pavement then turning up onto the forestry track which is undulating with beautiful scenery.
The forestry track will be a little challenging as it has a slow incline but organisers assure us that once runners reach the 5K point "it's a satisfying downhill run on the track then pavement all the way back to the finish line!"
New this year is the Kids Fun Run - a 1.3K dash on the pavement which includes a steep hill and steps. And should you feel the urge, there will be an opportunity to go for a dip in the loch after the run. Organisers comment: "As with the run, this is entirely at your own risk but is a safe, sheltered bay frequently used by local dippers. Remember to bring your swim wear, shoes and towel!"
