The Moffat Festival of Running is organised by Moffat Harriers and centres on the long established Moffat Run, first held in 1988. Alongside the 15K main race, the festival also includes junior races and a tots' dash, creating an evening of racing for all ages in the Dumfries and Galloway town.
The 15K multi terrain course begins on rolling roads before climbing steadily to a challenging stony track section. From the summit, runners are rewarded with a spectacular long descent on the A701 back into Moffat town centre, enjoying panoramic views across the surrounding Southern Uplands.
Held under UK Athletics Rules with a Scottish Athletics permit, the event features mile markers, water stations, first aid cover and mementoes for all finishers. The welcoming festival atmosphere, strong local support and challenging course have made the Moffat Festival of Running a popular fixture on the Scottish running calendar.
