The Maverick Dark Hampshire Gravel takes runners into Alice Holt Forest after dark, with 5K, 10K and 15K options based around a 5K woodland loop. Head torches light the way along wide forest tracks and tree-lined avenues through this historic Hampshire woodland.
The rolling gravel course gains around 69m per 5K lap, giving the 10K approximately 133m of ascent and the 15K around 194m. The routes are fully marked, with an outpost passed on each lap providing hydration, fuel and snacks. Trail shoes and a head or chest torch are among the required kit.
Designed as an accessible introduction to night trail running as well as a different challenge for experienced runners, the Alice Holt Forest races combine runnable gravel terrain with the atmosphere of running through woodland after dark. All three distances start together, with runners completing one, two or three laps before returning to the event village and finish.
