The area has a tranquil calming atmosphere and a distinctive character including; wildlife-rich estuaries, ancient heaths, windswept shingle beaches and historic villages. The Suffolk AONB is one of the most important wildlife areas in Britain, encompassing three National Nature Reserves and many Sites of Special Scientific Interest including the RSPB’s Minsmere Reserve. The mud flats and creeks of the AONB’s estuaries contain wetland sites that are wildlife refuges for nightjar, woodlark, and rare heath butterflies. So you will be accompanied on your trail run by an abundance of flora and fauna.
