Marple 10K Trail Race

March On To Marple This June

There won't be the usual Father's Day clash at this popular Stockport event this June...

Runners, lace up your trail shoes as Marple’s much-loved 10K Carnival Trail Race is back for its eighth edition on 22 June. Set against the scenic backdrop of Brabyns Park in Marple Bridge, Stockport, this ever-popular event is a staple of the local running calendar and, if previous years are anything to go by, it’s set to sell out fast.

The stunning multi-terrain route takes in some of Marple’s best countryside, blending parkland, woodland, quiet back roads and canal paths. Starting in Brabyns Park, the race follows sections of the Marple parkrun course (skipping the muddiest parts!) before heading out via the historic canal locks.

From there, runners will weave through picturesque trails near Marple Hall, pass through Chadkirk Country Park and tackle the infamous climb before joining the Peak Forest Canal. The grand finale? A breathtaking crossing of the Marple Aqueduct, towering 40 metres above the River Goyt, before a fast finish back in Brabyns Park.

The event is renowned not only for its stunning course but also for its electric atmosphere, with the ever-supportive Marple Runners marshals cheering participants every step of the way. This year’s race will be chip-timed and includes a fantastic medal, free professional race photos and some well-earned post-run goodies for all finishers.

For families looking to get involved, there’s also a 2K Family Fun Run, offering a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where every finisher will receive a commemorative medal, plus the chance of a high-five from Dennis or Minnie!

Organisers told us: "With registrations already soaring past 100, anyone keen to take part is urged to sign up quickly to secure their spot. And for those who’ve had to juggle plans in previous years, good news - this year’s race does not clash with Father’s Day!"
