Give marathon training a boost at Oulton Park

Organisers of February’s Oulton Park Half Marathon & 10K are reporting strong early year sales and advising potential particpants to sign up soon to avoid disappointment. The popular Cheshire event is aimed at runners preparing for a spring marathon who want to check they are on course to achieve their goals. Multi-event athletes are also catered for with a spring duathlon.

Christmas has been and gone and thoughts now turn to marathon training with many people targeting London, Brighton or Manchester. Whether looking to get around or set a PB, it is all about the preparation and this event will test early season fitness levels and determination. To see if those early morning sessions and Sunday long runs are paying off.

One of five races from OP Events it is held on the world-famous motor racing circuit at Oulton Park. This track is used to the sights and sounds of touring cars, motorbikes and F3 but on Sunday 16 February will play host to human exertion instead of horse power.

There is a 10K, Half Marathon and a 3.5 Hour Challenge, all of which involve running 4.3km laps around the scenic International Track. The track isn’t flat – it is a mix of ups and downs and a few sharp bends and runners are advised to keep right as they motor around whilst ensuring they have enough in the tank for the hilly ections. Not forgetting to top-up hydration levels at the water station near the pits.

A sprint distance and super sprint duathlon will take place in the afternoon, which is ideal preparation for a triathlon or as an individual challenge.

Every finisher will receive a bespoke medal.
