The Mandy Whittington Newent 9 is organised by Newent Runners and has become an established fixture in the Gloucestershire road racing calendar.
Starting at Newent Community School, the 9.5K route heads onto the country lanes surrounding the town and towards Cliffords Mesne. The course is undulating, with much of the climbing concentrated in the first half before runners enjoy faster sections on the return towards Newent.
The closing stages take runners along Foley Road and through the historic town centre, passing the distinctive half timbered Market House before returning to Newent Community School for the finish.
The race combines competitive club racing with a friendly local atmosphere and regularly attracts a strong field. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and race gift, with the traditional post race refreshments adding to the character of the event.
