The Maddy Moss Mash is a classic 10K navigational hill race organised by Ochil Hill Runners and held in the Ochil Hills above Tillicoultry. Covering approximately 10K with 760 metres of ascent, the race is intended for experienced hill runners capable of navigating confidently across open mountain terrain.
The route starts above Mill Glen before climbing steeply onto The Law and Ben Cleuch, the highest summit in the Ochil Hills. Runners then continue across Andrew Gannel and Maddy Moss before returning via a fast descent to the finish. Only the start and finish sections are marked, with competitors responsible for navigating the remainder of the course using map and compass.
Held under Scottish hill racing rules, the event requires competitors to carry mandatory safety equipment including waterproof clothing, map, compass and whistle. Combining challenging navigation, steep hill running and rugged Ochil terrain, the Maddy Moss Mash is a demanding test for experienced mountain runners.
