The Macclesfield Running Festival brings together Half Marathon, 10K and 5K road races starting and finishing at Macclesfield Leisure Centre's athletics track. The fully road closed routes head from the town into the surrounding Cheshire countryside, combining an urban start and finish with quieter rural roads.
Runners face a hilly course with several demanding climbs across all three distances, making the event more challenging than a typical flat road race. The routes are professionally marked and measured, with each kilometre clearly signed and marshals positioned throughout to guide and support runners. The Half Marathon provides the longest test, while the 10K and 5K give runners shorter options over the same characteristically undulating terrain.
Chip timed results, aid stations, free race photography and post race goodies are provided, with live music and spectator support adding to the atmosphere around the course. The athletics track finish gives runners a distinctive final stretch after tackling the hills and countryside roads around Macclesfield.
