The Lewes Downland 10 Mile and 5 Mile Trail Runs explore the South Downs from Landport Bottom on the northern edge of Lewes. Both routes climb towards Blackcap before continuing across open downland, with expansive views over Sussex and the Weald.
Runners can expect off road courses featuring grassland, chalk and flint tracks, woodland trails and plenty of undulation. The 5 mile route loops back from Blackcap via historic Mount Harry, while the 10 mile course ventures deeper into the Sussex Downs before returning through Ashcombe Bottom. Narrow and uneven paths add a technical element, particularly in wet conditions.
The Lewes Downland Trail Runs provide a classic South Downs trail running experience with challenging climbs, varied natural surfaces and countryside views. The 10 mile race forms part of the Sussex Grand Prix, while the 5 mile option provides a shorter way to experience the trails around Blackcap and Mount Harry.
