Leek Hockey Club Boots Run

These Boots Are Made For Running

There's plenty on offer for those taking part in this year's Boots Run...

This year's Leek Hockey Club Boots Run will take place on 8 September and will once again offer distances of 9 Mile, 5K and 2K. The event is a fundraising, all ability friendly run to raise money for local charities in memory of the club's team mate and friend Jackie (Boots) Machin.

The event is multi terrain in nature, taking in the Leek to Rudyard track and the local beauty spot of Rudyard Lake. The 5K will be a nice and easy out and back route while the full 9 mile event will head off towards Rushton and then out and around Rudyard Lake. The majority of the run will be on good tracks and trails and will be clearly marked/marshalled.

The start and finish will be just a short walk from Leek Hockey Club's clubhouse where those taking part can park and use the facilities. There will be a 2K distance on offer as well, entries for which are available on the day - all participants will receive a goody bag at the finish.

Organisers say: "We’re hoping for blue skies again this year. During the day we will be making sure the finish line is stocked with water before you take the two minute walk back to the club house for your free pint and goody bag. We also have a water station about half way on the 9 mile route at the Knot Inn which will be stocked with a few sweet treats this year by popular demand.

Circus Academy will be in attendance on the day offering fun activities for all to have a go at, alongside face painting, bouncy castle and other inflatables. There is plenty of space for kids to enjoy a play whilst adults enjoy some food, drink and live music, all profits to a fantastic local charity too.
