Be quick off the blocks for MB Virtual Relays

The clock is ticking for entries to MB Virtual 4x1 Mile Relays, that are open to all ages and abilities.

It’s the last chance to enter MB Virtual 4x1 Mile Relays and be in with a chance of winning MB running kit. Children as well as adults complete the distance at their own pace and receive bespoke ‘bling’ as their reward.

Michelle Buckle of MB Running Coach has been devising weekly challenges based on various themes that included ‘Royalty’, Sentence for the Week’ and ‘The Alphabet’ to add a focus to training runs and keep everyone motivated during the coronavirus crisis.

Her latest is MB Virtual 4x1 Mile Relays taking place this weekend (6 June) in which runners are randomly allocated to teams of four, issued a race number then complete one continuous mile on a route of their own choice whilst still remembering to follow government guidelines.

Record your one mile run, jog or walk and upload it to Garmin, Strava or the equivalent. Submit the evidence to Michelle via email or Facebook Messenger or tag MB Running Coach. Once Michelle has received all the results she will start the virtual race at 6pm on Monday 8 June and people can follow this on her Facebook page.

No prizes for the winning team but all finishers will be entered into draw for MB Running Coach personalised hoodie, T-shirt and vest. There is a medal and certificate for every finisher and full race results will be published.

On 6 May 1954, Roger Bannister became the first athlete to run a sub-4 minute mile and 66 years later, the anniversary acted as the inspiration for her virtual event. Michelle says: “The fact that anyone can run or walk a mile distance, alone or with their family which includes the kids is achievable by all."

For more information and to enter, visit MB Running Coach Facebook page. Entries close at 5pm (Friday 5 June).
