Lakes 3000 is a demanding 54 mile mountain challenge linking four of the Lake District's 3,000 foot peaks: Scafell, Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw.
Starting and finishing at The Pencil Factory in Keswick, the route covers approximately 87K and more than 15,000 feet of ascent across valleys, technical ridgelines and remote high fell terrain. The course is unmarked and follows established Public Rights of Way, with participants provided with a GPX file, waterproof map and detailed route notes. Strong mountain awareness and navigation skills are essential.
Runners have 24 hours to complete the challenge. Support includes four medical aid stations providing hydration and nutrition, three high fell medical safety tents and live GPS tracking. A drop bag facility is available at the start and finish.
Finishers receive a Lakes 3000 medal, with hot food and drink waiting at the finish. Full mandatory mountain kit must be carried throughout the event.
