The Grizedale Growl takes runners and their dogs onto the wide forest trails of Grizedale Forest in the South Lakes. With 5K and 10K routes to choose from, the event combines accessible forest running with beautiful views across Coniston Water and the surrounding Lake District landscape.
Both routes follow wide forest tracks and are graded Blue by the organiser, making this one of the less technical events in the Lakeland Paws series. There is still plenty of climbing, with around 180 metres of ascent on the 5K and 250 metres on the 10K. Up to two dogs can accompany each runner, while participants are also welcome to run without a dog.
The courses are fully marked and chip timed, with individual starts helping to give runners and dogs plenty of space as they begin their race. The 5K provides a shorter option for beginners or those seeking a more manageable challenge, while the 10K adds further distance and climbing through the forest.
