Dogs @ Dodd is a canicross trail event set among the wooded slopes of Dodd in the Lake District, with 8K and 5K routes available. The courses use a mixture of forest roads and trails, climbing through Dodd Wood before contouring around the fell and opening up views towards Derwentwater and the surrounding Lakeland fells.

The 8K route packs around 370m of ascent into a challenging loop, rewarding the climbing with a fast descent through the forest. The shorter 5K has around 210m of ascent and avoids some of the tougher climbing, making it a more accessible introduction to the event. Wide trails make up much of the course, although runners should also be prepared for narrower sections and a relatively steep final descent.

Runners can compete with one or two dogs, while those without a dog are also welcome to take part. Individual starts give each runner and dog space to get underway safely, and the routes are marked and chip timed. With substantial elevation across both distances, Dogs @ Dodd provides a testing but scenic introduction to canicross and trail running in the Lake District.
