Kids Take Centre Stage In Birmingham
A change to the Great Birmingham Run schedule means the kids get their own day to showcase their superpowers...
The AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run will return to the city over the weekend of 3/4 May 2025. Back in the heart of Birmingham city centre both the 10K and half marathon routes will once again be jam-packed full of iconic landmarks.
But who said the grown-ups should have all the fun? Kids looking to emulate their parents can sign up for the AJ Bell Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run which will see the smallest Brummie runners (aged 3-8) take on a 1.5K dash, while Junior runners (aged 9-15) can tackle a supercharged 2.5K sprint.
In a change for 2025 rather than taking place on the same day as the adult races, these events will make up Super Saturday on 3 May, at Birmingham Alexander Stadium. Organisers, Great Run say: "This change will provide our younger runners with the chance to take centre stage before the main event the following day."
Junior runners can expect a fun route, photo opportunities, local spectators, and lots of family fun. Whether it’s racing, fundraising or being their best, all are invited to discover their superpower next May. And the adults can relax knowing the kids are safe and secure on a route that utilises closed roads.
There will be a t-shirt for kids to run in and shiny finisher's medal too as well as on course music and entertainment. Those taking part can expect an unforgettable finish line experience with plenty of cheers and high fives from local supporters.
Final word with Great Run: "From the start line excitement to the rocking on-course music zones, and an event village that feels more like an after party – the unbeatable atmosphere and local support is uniquely Birmingham."
