Big Kids Step Aside For The Real Thing

The UK’s biggest and best kids event is back on Newcastle Gateshead Quayside...

The UK’s biggest and best kids event is back on Newcastle Gateshead Quayside on Saturday 9 September as AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run forms a central part of the iconic Great North Run Weekend. Minis aged 3-8 take on a 1.2K dash while Juniors aged 9-16 tackle a 4K supercharged sprint.

The route sees all runners cross the Swing Bridge. Junior runners will then do an out and back section towards the Redheugh Bridge, before re-joining the Mini route that heads along the Gateshead Quayside, past the Sage Gateshead and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. All participants will then run across the Millennium Bridge before their big finish on the Newcastle Quayside.

There will be loads to keep the little ones engaged with fantastic on course music and entertainment and lots of local crowd support with all runners being rewarded with a finisher’s bag and medal.

The 2022 running of AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run was a compete sell out so, if you want to get your kids involved in the 2023 running, be sure to get your entries sorted now for what is being deemed 'Super Saturday.'
