Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run 2026

Future Stars Ready To Shine In Birmingham

Young runners set for centre stage at Birmingham’s biggest weekend of running…

The next generation of runners will take centre stage in the Midlands as the Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run returns on Saturday 2 May 2026.

Taking place at the Alexander Stadium, the event forms part of a huge weekend of running in the city, with thousands expected to take part across the wider Great Birmingham Run programme.

Designed to inspire young athletes, the event gives children aged 3 to 15 the chance to experience the buzz of race day in a safe and supportive environment. Mini runners aged 3 to 8 take on a 1.5K distance, while Junior runners aged 9 to 15 step up to a 2.5K challenge.

With a morning start and a vibrant atmosphere, it is about much more than results. Expect cheering crowds, plenty of energy and a finish line moment every young runner will remember.

The Junior and Mini event plays a key role in the Great Run series, helping to introduce children to running while building confidence and encouraging an active lifestyle. It also mirrors the excitement of the main event, giving younger participants their own moment in the spotlight ahead of the 10K and half marathon on Sunday.

With strong demand and a growing reputation as one of the UK’s leading children’s running events, the Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run continues to be a highlight of the Midlands sporting calendar.

For many, it will be their first taste of race day. For others, it is the start of something much bigger.
