The AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great South Run gives young runners their own Great South Run experience in Southsea. The event features a 1.4K Mini run for ages 3 to 8 and a 2.5K Junior run for ages 9 to 15, with both distances designed specifically for younger participants.
Both races take place on closed roads around the seafront, with music, entertainment and plenty of support adding to the atmosphere along the way. Mini entrants run with an accompanying adult, while Junior entrants aged nine and over can take part independently or request adult accompaniment when entering.
Young runners receive a T-shirt to run in and a finisher medal, with plenty of encouragement around the course and at the finish. The event forms part of the Great South Run weekend and gives children the chance to experience the excitement and atmosphere of a major running event.
