Ironbridge Half Marathon

Test Your Mettle!

Historic route and river views await at popular half...

Runners from across Shropshire and beyond are gearing up for the 2026 Ironbridge Half Marathon, which is scheduled for 22 March. Organised by Telford Harriers, the race starts and finishes at the QEII Arena in Telford Town Park and promises a scenic 13.1 mile journey through the iconic Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site.

The multi-surface, one-lap loop begins in Telford’s park before runners head out along the picturesque Silkin Way and through the valley’s historic industrial landscape. The terrain is a mix of hard packed trails, road and, more than likely, mud! There is a steep hill at around 9 miles and four water stations to top up fluid levels and keep everything moving to the end.

The route threads past historic sites such as the Blists Hill Victorian Town, the Coalport China Museum and the Jackfield Tile Museum. Organisers say: "The highlight of this event is crossing the celebrated Iron Bridge itself, it is a fitting climax and a powerful reminder of the area’s heritage.

"Participants can expect a challenging, single loop run in a picturesque area with shouts of encouragement from marshals and locals. Then it’s a sprint over the finish line in the Town Park!"

All those taking part will gain themselves a medal, t-shirt and goody bag and there are age-category prizes too adding a competitive edge for those seeking more than just the reward of a fast finish.
