Double Up At Dirt Run

Dirt might not last forever - but the memories of this trail event will...

Ever feel you want to do it all again when you reach the end of a race? Well, at the Irchester Dirt Run you can do just that (if you want to and you're happy to wait another four weeks).

Taking place on 21 January and 18 February, this two round multi terrain event is based at Northamptonshire's Irchester Country Park and also boasts a choice of three distances: 5, 10 or 15K. This year the runs will be using the uphill version of the course (it was downhill in 2023), so it is an even bigger test of your stamina!

Whether you’re looking for a multi terrain fun run or want to run a serious race in stunning surrounds then the varied terrain of the Jurassic Irchester Country Park is ideal. It doesn’t matter what ability level you are thanks to the three distance options. The course for all three distances is the same with the 5K runners completing one lap, the 10K runners two laps, and the 15K runners three laps with everybody starting at the same time.

Organisers say: "Dirt might not last forever - but the memories will! As motivational running quotes go it's a good, if slightly frightening, one but here at Go Beyond HQ, we'd like to disagree slightly... for two very good reasons.

"Firstly, with the amount of rain we're getting at the moment we can't 100 per cent promise you'll ever really be able to get rid of the dirt you'd doubtless collect completing our iconic Dirt Run event. But, more importantly, we can absolutely guarantee that your memories of this epic event will last forever."

It is clearly a popular event with review like this from previous participant, Janine B: "This was my first time doing this event. If you love trails this is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. A little bit muddy and a few little inclines made it really interesting. Marshals were all super friendly and a nice wooden medal at the end."

And more from Morag: "Recommend for anyone that desires a more wholesome, less commercial event. Having run at this event many times in the past, it was nice to return to the same feeling and friendliness of organisers and competitors that are passionate about just running!"
