To Infinity & Beyond!
How far do you think you can you run in 24 hours?
A race that uses the term 'infinity' might sound daunting, but this new event for Cumbria is anything but as we shall reveal here. Infinity24, a fabulous new 24-hour trail running challenge set in the beautiful Eden Valley on the edge of the Lake District, will be staged for the first time on 18 May.
Organisers told us: "We’ve always had an idea that we’d like to put on a standout event in the beautiful countryside of Cumbria. A lot of planning and work later, we’re excited to be launching Infinity24, the only event of its kind in the county and the north west of England!"
The event is run on a 5K lap of varied off road terrain that will see runners travel along the river, through fields and woodland and on farm tracks. Each lap finishes by passing through the farmyard and the event camping field, where all entrants will have a pitch close to trackside. Organisers say of the course: "Our off-road course set in the beautiful Eden Valley offers varied terrain and stunning scenery. This brand new route is held almost completely on private land where a run has never been held before!"
Whether you’re a seasoned ultra runner or a group of running friends looking for a unique experience, Infinity24 offers a fantastic opportunity to test your endurance and spirit. You can enter as a solo runner, in pairs, small teams (up to four) or large teams (up to eight).
The Infinity weekend starts on Friday evening with a course recce, food and live music with onsite camping for Friday and Saturday nights included in the entry fee. Starting at 11am on Saturday those taking part will run as many 5K laps as they can by 11am on Sunday.
The 5K course finishes by winding its way through the event campsite making it ideal for support throughout the race. The atmosphere will boost all runners' stamina and morale as they head out onto their next lap, no matter what the time of day or night!
