The Hampshire Independence Weekend Run Day 1 is organised by Phoenix Running and takes place from Garnier Road in Winchester. This flexible distance event allows runners to choose their challenge on the day, from a single lap through to a Half Marathon, Marathon or Ultra Marathon, making it suitable for runners of all abilities.
The professionally measured out and back course follows the scenic Itchen Way, crossing the historic Hockley Viaduct before returning to the start. Each lap measures approximately 2.62 miles, with runners completing as many laps as they wish within the seven hour event time limit. The smooth road surface and flexible start window provide a relaxed and inclusive running experience.
The event features chip timing, a bespoke finisher's medal, a well stocked aid station and Phoenix Running's welcoming atmosphere. Fancy dress is encouraged for the Independence Weekend theme, adding to the friendly community spirit that has become a hallmark of Phoenix Running events.
