New Trail Festival Set To Thrill Runners
Entry is open for Scotland’s newest and most spectacular trail running event...
Trail running enthusiasts are in for an unforgettable experience as the Glen Tanar Trail Running Festival makes its debut this summer. Hosted on the breathtaking Glen Tanar Estate in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, this exciting event promises a weekend (26/27 July) of exhilarating runs through rugged terrain and ancient pine forests alongside the picturesque River Tanar.
Born from the success of the Illuminator Night Run, the festival will offer four race distances to challenge runners of all levels. The event kicks off on Saturday with 8K and 15K trail races, ideal for families and beginners as well as those looking to push their limits. On Sunday, the challenge intensifies with a 25K race and a demanding 55K ultra-marathon for seasoned trail runners and endurance athletes.
With professionally marked courses, aid stations, race tracking, and post-run refreshments, participants will be well-supported as they navigate the diverse landscape. Organisers told us: "The festival atmosphere promises to make this more than just a race - it’s a celebration of trail running in one of Scotland’s most stunning locations, come and join us!"
Aboyne, the gateway to Glen Tanar, provides a stunning backdrop for the event, nestled in Royal Deeside with easy access to both Aberdeen and the Cairngorms National Park.
