runABC is in the process of upgrading and improving its online service so you might encounter the odd glitch over the next week or so but rest assured we’re working on them and the new site will be a fantastic resource for our running community.

In To Win At Stoke Handicap 5K Series

Everyone has a sporting chance to win at the new Stoke on Trent Handicap 5K Series of races. It doesn’t matter if you’re a 6 or 12 minute miler, you can set out your stall at the bet365 Stadium.

There are three races in the series, all of which are accurately measured and held on a safe and scenic route near to the football stadium. They will take place on the 1 May, 19 June and 3 July starting at 7.15pm from the bet365 Stadium, the home of Stoke City FC and there is a medal for every finisher in each of these races. Every runner who completes all three will receive a T-shirt as a reward for his or her efforts.

This chip timed event is organised by Mick Hall and Bill Mac and differs from other race series in that it is based upon a handicap system or each runner's 5K time within the last few months. This gives them the opportunity to race against and possibly beat those who are normally fleeter of foot than they are.

They are designed as fun events albeit with a competitive aspect and an ideal way to determine if weekly speedwork sessions are working or not. There are only 250 places available in each race and entries are selling fast.

There is a 1K Fun Run for juniors before every race.

To enter, visit the Stoke on Trent Handicap Series website.
