The Half Ben Hill Race is organised by Lochaber Athletic Club and takes place from New Town Park in Fort William. This classic Scottish hill race challenges runners with a demanding 10K course climbing the lower slopes of Ben Nevis, combining steep ascents, fast descents and traditional mountain running.
The unmarked course covers approximately 10K with 670 metres of ascent across a mixture of trail, rough ground and open hillside. Competitors are required to navigate independently and carry full hill running kit, with changing mountain weather and challenging terrain rewarding both fitness and sound navigation skills.
Held under traditional hill racing principles, the event requires self reliance and careful preparation, with facilities available at the start and finish in New Town Park. Its iconic Highland setting and longstanding reputation have established the Half Ben Hill Race as a popular fixture in the Scottish hill running calendar.
