The Halewood 5K October is part of the established monthly race series organised by Knowsley Harriers AC. Starting and finishing near the Environment Centre in Halewood, the accurately measured 5K follows a flat out and back route along the Liverpool Loop Line. The entirely tarmac surface and traffic free setting create straightforward conditions for road racing over the distance.

The fast course gives runners a strong opportunity to target a personal best or put their 5K fitness to the test. With little elevation to interrupt the rhythm of the race, runners can settle into their pace and concentrate on maintaining speed from the start through to the return leg. The measured route also provides a consistent benchmark for runners who have previously competed in the Halewood series.

The Halewood 5K series has been organised by Knowsley Harriers since 2011 and welcomes runners of different abilities, from experienced club athletes to those developing their race experience. Results across the monthly events contribute towards annual individual and age category competitions, while the combination of a measured course, simple race format and friendly organisation has helped establish Halewood as a regular fixture on the local running calendar.
