The Haldane Fisher Syd Quirk Half Marathon Run & Walk is an established road racing event organised by the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes' Club. Starting and finishing at Ronaldsway Industrial Estate near Castletown, the event welcomes both runners and race walkers for a Half Marathon through the south of the island.
The course follows a gently undulating route through Ballasalla, Ballabeg and the surrounding countryside, incorporating sections of the Castletown bypass. Runners complete a circuit of the industrial estate alongside two laps of the main road course, experiencing a mixture of village streets, rural roads and open countryside. The route provides opportunities for competitive racing and personal best attempts.
First held in 1976, the race honours Syd Quirk, a founding member of Southern Athletic Club who helped support the club during its early years. The event features separate running and walking competitions, chip timing and individual awards, continuing a longstanding tradition in Isle of Man athletics.
