Race 4 of the Great Western Runners Towpath Series takes place on Friday 14th August 2026 from Ashton Park Sports Centre in Bristol. The final race of the series switches from the previous 10K distances to a 5K route, offering a shorter but fast summer evening challenge.
The course follows a simple out-and-back route along the River Avon towpath, using a mixture of tarmac and gravel paths with some roots and uneven sections. The gently undulating route is well supported by marshals and provides an enjoyable trail race suitable for runners of all abilities.
The event has a welcoming community atmosphere, with individual race prizes, series awards and a finish-line raffle. Runners can enter the final race alone or take part in the full Towpath Series, which combines three 10K races with this 5K finale.
