Taking place on 1 October in Glasgow, the Great Scottish Run incorporates two distances - 10K and Half Marathon and for the youngsters there is a Junior event the day before. Glasgow is egalitarian in its nature and so is this event, there is a run for everyone, from locals to celebrated athletes, whether it’s your first 10K or your 50th half marathon you can expect an inclusive celebration of Scottish running, with music blazing, crowds buzzing, legs pumping and fists bumping. Glasgow comes alive on Great Scottish Run weekend.
Join thousands of others and meander round the streets of Scotland's largest city - from urban areas to green spaces past some of the city’s most famous landmarks. Starting in the heart of the city, runners soak up the atmosphere and music all the way to the finish in Glasgow Green, passing entertainment zones every kilometre.
There's only one way to make yourself feel even 'greater' and that is to run in the event for a charity. MND Scotland for example, would love you to enhance your Great Scottish Run experience by running for them. The leading charity in Scotland providing care and support to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND), as well as funding vital research into finding a cure.
A spokesperson from the charity said: "By running as part of Team MND Scotland, every step you take and every penny you raise will bring us closer to our vision of a world without motor neuron disease. You’ll be helping us continue to fund pioneering research to find a cure and to support people with MND in Scotland, so they can spend the time they have left making precious memories with the ones they love."
