Covering approximately 10K with around 340 metres of ascent, the race has become a longstanding fixture in the fell running calendar, attracting experienced hill runners from across the region.
The challenging route crosses open moorland, fields, rough ground, woodland tracks and short road sections, with steep climbs, fast descents and stream crossings adding to the character of the course. Runners visit Abney Moor before tackling the rugged terrain of Bretton Clough, creating a varied and demanding fell running experience.

Its combination of challenging terrain, Peak District scenery and community spirit has made the Great Hucklow Fell Race a popular and enduring summer event.
