The Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra is a 57 mile point to point race linking Scotland's two largest cities. Starting beside the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, the route heads east towards Edinburgh using riverside paths, cycle routes, canal towpaths and other sections across the Central Belt.
The largely flat course gives runners a fast ultra distance challenge without the major climbs found in many long distance events. The route follows the River Kelvin, Forth and Clyde Canal, Union Canal and Water of Leith, passing landmarks including the Falkirk Wheel and Antonine Wall along the way.
Runners are supported by checkpoints and a well marked route, with live GPS tracking used throughout the event. Entrants must also carry mandatory kit and have previously completed an organised event of at least marathon distance before taking on the journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh.
