Gibside Fruitbowl Trail Race is organised by Blackhill Bounders and takes runners on a challenging seven-mile route through the National Trust's Gibside estate.
Starting and finishing alongside the walled garden, the course follows tracks and paths through the extensive estate. Runners pass many of Gibside's best-known landmarks, including the old Stables, the Avenue, Gibside Hall and the Column to Liberty. The route features sustained climbs and descents, with woodland and riverside sections adding to the varied trail challenge.
The long-established race is chip timed and attracts runners from clubs across the North East and beyond. Its combination of historic surroundings, autumn trails and a demanding course has made the Fruitbowl a distinctive fixture on the regional running calendar.
