The Gatliff Marathon is an annual long distance challenge with 25K and 50K routes through the countryside of Kent, Surrey and Sussex. First held in 1984, the event welcomes participants to walk, jog or run, with the routes changing each year.
Both distances predominantly follow rural footpaths and tracks, with participants navigating from detailed turn by turn instructions provided at the start. GPX files are also available, while checkpoints must be visited along the way. The challenge is to complete the chosen route within the 10 hour time limit.
The event starts and finishes at Edenbridge Cricket Club, with flexible start times according to distance and whether participants are walking or running. Checkpoints provide snacks and drinks, with additional food available on the 50K route and hot food provided at the finish.
