Fortitude Pippingford

Fortitude Ultra Pippingford is a ten hour trail endurance challenge held within the private Pippingford Park estate in East Sussex. Participants attempt to complete ten laps, choosing between roughly 3, 4 and 5 mile routes and returning to the race village within each hourly window before beginning the next lap.

The three hilly loops explore the trails of Pippingford Park, with the longer routes predominantly using hard packed trails and the shorter course including more off road terrain. Runners can move down to a shorter loop as the challenge progresses, allowing them to adapt their distance according to how the day unfolds, but their finishing grade is determined by the shortest loop completed.

The unusual format places an emphasis on pacing, consistency and endurance rather than completing a single fixed distance. Participants who complete all ten laps can cover varying distances depending on their chosen routes, creating a flexible trail running challenge across the secluded estate and its varied off road terrain.
