Be Fast For Forfar
You need to be quick off the mark to bag a spot at this popular multi terrain event...
The Forfar Road Runners Multi Terrain Half Marathon is a tough but scenic race round the town of Forfar. The challenging and scenic race will take place on 2 February 2025 and with entries now open you will need to be quick if you want a spot as there is a limit of 250 runners and these are always snapped up.
Organised by Forfar Road Runners, the race contains a varied mixture of running surfaces from country park paths, tarmac, pavement, farm tracks, fields and bogs – and a water section which can be knee deep (and ice cold). As a consequence we are told this race is not recommended for novice runners!
Organisers say: "The route will be partially marked but it is strongly advised that every runner studies and carries a map of the course. Due to the time of year it is also advisable that you carry full body-cover including hat, gloves and waterproofs.
"For the last few years there has been rather more water than usual so an alternative multi route has been in operation."
This is a 'no frills race' so there is no goody bag or medal, but both pre and post race there will be free massage available. And the post race hospitality is legendary with bar open from 12:30pm and the club always lays on a gigantic feast including soup, sandwiches tea/coffee and cakes for hungry runners and spectators.
Course records stand with Kristian Jones in 1:08:18 from the 2018 race and in the women's category it is held by Anwen Darlington who clocked 1:26:36, also in 2018.
