Fields and Forest Ultra Trail Marathon is an established 34 mile race exploring the trails, farmland and woodland of Suffolk and Norfolk.
Starting and finishing in Bardwell, the route heads through the open countryside of West Suffolk before reaching West Harling Woods, part of Thetford Forest. Runners then return across Suffolk's farmland and wide open landscapes.
Designed as an accessible introduction to ultra distance trail running, the course is very runnable and not overly technical. The route is marked, although runners need to pay attention to navigation as the entire course cannot be marshalled. Aid stations are positioned at intervals of no more than 10K and there is an 11 hour cut off.
The individual ultra takes place alongside the Fields and Forest Relay, with both races sharing the same event base.
