Get your February running Fix with a Winter Warmer
5K and 10K events set to return to Glasgow and Edinburgh
Race organisers The Fix Events have confirmed that they will be bringing their Winter Warmer 5K and 10K runs back to Scotland next year.
The Glasgow and Edinburgh races will be part of a series of events which started in 2019 and now includes 5K and 10K runs in Newcastle, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham and Milton Keynes. The London Winter Warmer Run will also include a Half Marathon.
The Edinburgh 5K and 10K Winter Warmer Run will be held in Holyrood Park on Saturday, 5 February.
The Glasgow 5K and 10K Winter Warmer Run will be held entirely within the confines of Glasgow Green on Sunday, 6 February.
Both events are limited to just 300 runners. In news that will disappoint runners in the North East, there will be no run in Aberdeen’s Hazelhead Park as there was in 2020.
Entries to all events in the series include full race chip timing, a ‘super cool’ medal, snacks, drinks, some surprise goodies and ‘a load of fun, smiles and support along the way’.
In addition to being a great way to help runners stay motivated and focused over the long, cold months at the end of the year, the Winter Warmer runs aim to raise awareness of issues surrounding housing by supporting charity Shelter. There is no obligation to raise funds for the chairty, but those runners who choose to do so will receive a free Buff as part of their entry. There is no minimum fundraising target.
Entries to both the Edinburgh and Glasgow events close on Thursday, 3 February.
The Fix Events also organise the upcoming MoRuns in support of Movember and men’s health. Places are still available for their Scottish runs in Edinburgh (Saturday, 6 November) and Callendar Park in Falkirk, the temporary home of the Glasgow MoRun while the COP26 summit is being held (Sunday, 7 November).
